A Share Certificate of Deposit is simply a certificate of deposit. Most Credit Unions refer to their (CD) accounts as a share certificate account. You may also know them as a time deposit.

You can open a Share Certificate with as little as $500.00. Once you open a certificate your money is then locked in for whichever term you initially selected. Currently SHARE Credit Union offers certificates in 6, 12 and 24 month terms. Penalties apply for early withdrawal
Certificate accounts will generally pay higher dividends then a savings account. Once your certificate is opened you can no longer make deposits and will continue to earn the initial rate for the term of the certificate.
